Hyderabad, July 9: A fire broke out in a readymade garments shop in Palika Bazar, Secunderabad, on Sunday. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but the fire quickly spread to adjacent shops.
As a precautionary measure, the police evacuated a nearby lodge to ensure the safety of the occupants. Four fire engines promptly arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire, with senior officials from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) also present.
State Minister for Animal Husbandry, T. Srinivas Yadav, visited the site of the incident and supervised the firefighting operation. Preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit may have been the cause of the fire. The police have registered a case and further investigations are underway.
Secunderabad has witnessed a series of accidents in recent months. In March, a massive fire in a multi-storey building claimed the lives of six individuals. Additionally, in January, a garment store fire on Ministers Road resulted in the loss of three lives. The fire raged for two days, leading to the subsequent demolition of the commercial building by municipal authorities.
Last year in September, eight people lost their lives and nine others sustained injuries in a hotel fire. The incident occurred at the Ruby Pride Luxury Hotel following an explosion in an e-bike showroom located in the building’s basement, near the Passport Office.
Authorities are working diligently to investigate the cause of the fire and take necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
