Rain Disaster in Northern States: 12 Lives Lost in Heavy Rains
Northern states of India, including Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttarakhand, are reeling under the devastating impact of heavy rains. Flash floods and landslides have caused chaos and claimed the lives of 12 individuals.

In Jammu and Kashmir, a landslide tragically struck a bus in the Doda area, resulting in the deaths of two people. The Poonch sector also witnessed a tragedy as two soldiers lost their lives due to sudden floodwaters. Their bodies were recovered today.
Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have also been severely affected by the heavy rainfall. The River Ganges is dangerously swollen due to incessant downpours in Uttarakhand, and a car plunged into the river, claiming the lives of three individuals. The fate of three others remains unknown.
In Himachal Pradesh, five people have lost their lives so far due to the heavy rains. The popular tourist destination of Manali has also been hit by heavy rainfall, leading to cars being swept away by the floods. A steel bridge over the Beas river in Mandi district was washed away by the surging waters. Over 700 roads in Himachal Pradesh are impassable, causing a complete halt in traffic. As a precautionary measure, schools and colleges in the state have been declared closed for two days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert, indicating that heavy rains are expected to persist in Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh for the next two days. The situation remains critical as authorities work tirelessly to ensure the safety of the affected areas.
