In a recent statement, TPCC Chief Revanth Reddy has accused Minister KTR of deliberately distorting his comments regarding free electricity in his own residences. Reddy claimed that KTR edited his words to showcase his own cleverness. Speaking to the media on Thursday, Reddy clarified that he was asked about the possibility of free electricity if the Congress party came to power. He revealed that a part of his response was manipulated and misrepresented.

Reddy pointed out that the Congress party had included the provision of free electricity in its 2004 manifesto, but it was not implemented by the current Chief Minister, KCR. Challenging Minister KTR, Reddy offered to engage in a discussion with him on the topic of free electricity. He emphasized that the Congress party had initiated the free electricity scheme and had consistently supported farmers, considering agriculture as a festival. Reddy attributed the availability of electricity in Telangana today to the efforts of the Congress party. He also mentioned that the first free electricity agreement was signed after YS came into power. In 2009, the electricity supply was increased from seven hours to nine hours, and the Congress party had also provided loan waivers to farmers.

Furthermore, Reddy highlighted the struggle of the Telangana Congress in securing electricity for the region, stating that they had fought for it ever since Kiran Kumar Reddy’s press conference prior to the state’s partition. According to Reddy, Telangana currently receives 53 percent of the electricity based on consumption, while only 47 percent is allocated to Andhra Pradesh, despite its larger population. Reddy emphasized his own background as the child of a farmer and questioned KTR’s ability to compete with him in the field, challenging him to farm together.

Reddy criticized KTR and BRS for engaging in petty politics over his comments. He made sensational allegations, claiming that KCR was responsible for the Bashir Bagh shooting incident and the subsequent deaths of farmers. Reddy alleged that KCR had made statements against free electricity. He clarified that his attendance at the meeting was in his capacity as a PCC member, aiming to explain his party’s policies. Reddy further accused the Telangana government of procuring electricity at exorbitant rates, surpassing the prices offered by the central government.

This exchange between TPCC Chief Revanth Reddy and Minister KTR has sparked a heated political debate, with both leaders trading accusations and challenging each other on various issues, including free electricity and agriculture policies. The ongoing verbal feud reflects the intensifying political climate in the state of Telangana.
