
Sriharikota (Andhra Pradesh), July 14: The 73 days of perseverance have paid off with the successful orbiting of India’s Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft by the heavy-lift rocket LVM3, announced a senior official from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
Following the triumphant rocket mission, S. Mohana Kumar, the Mission Director of Chandrayaan-3, addressed the gathered audience at the Mission Control Centre in Sriharikota. He expressed that the past 73 days have been a period of arduous dedication for the ISRO family.
Finally, their efforts have borne fruit with the successful injection of the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft into its precise orbit.
Kumar highlighted the continuous improvements made to the LVM3 rocket, as it will be employed for India’s forthcoming human space mission, Gaganyaan.
S. Unnikrishnan, the Director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, emphasized that this marks the seventh successful mission of the LVM3 rocket. Numerous modifications have been implemented to ensure it is an ideal vehicle for the Gaganyaan mission.
Heading the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft is Dr. P. Veeramuthuvel. The journey to the moon has commenced, with several critical maneuvers planned in the upcoming days.
At approximately 2:35 p.m. on Friday, the LVM3 rocket broke free from the second launch pad and soared towards the skies.
After 16 minutes, the rocket deployed its sole passenger, Chandrayaan-3, into the intended orbit.
Subsequently, ISRO officials will guide the spacecraft towards the moon and endeavor to achieve a landing on the lunar surface sometime late next month.
