
Warsaw, July 18: A devastating accident occurred in central Poland as a Cessna plane crashed into an airfield hangar, resulting in the loss of five lives and leaving five others injured.
The mishap took place in the city of Chrcynno on Monday evening when the plane collided with the hangar where people had sought shelter. Andrzej Bartkowiak, the chief commandant of the State Fire Service in Poland, confirmed the casualties through social media.
The unfortunate incident is believed to have occurred during the plane’s landing in adverse weather conditions, which may have contributed to the tragedy, according to reports from Xinhua news agency.
The aircraft was carrying three pilots at the time of the crash. Tragically, one pilot lost their life, another sustained injuries, while the third emerged unharmed. Among the deceased were individuals who had sought refuge in the hangar; however, their identities are yet to be disclosed, as stated by Monika Nowakowska-Brynda from the State Fire Service, cited by the Polish Press Agency.
The aviation authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the accident and shed light on the series of events that led to this unfortunate incident.
