Visakhapatnam, July 28: A colossal fish, believed to be a Blue Whale, has washed ashore off the Bay of Bengal in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district.

The lifeless creature was found on Meghavaram beach in Santhabommali mandal. Local fishermen expressed that it’s an unusual sight to witness such a rare fish in these waters and suspect that it may have died after venturing into shallow areas.

Measuring approximately 25 feet in length and weighing about five tonnes, the Blue Whale holds the distinction of being the largest animal on the planet. The discovery drew a large crowd of curious onlookers from nearby villages, with many taking selfies to capture the extraordinary event.

In a previous incident in 2021, fishermen had rescued a shark entangled in a shore fishing net on Tantadi beach in Visakhapatnam. Officials later identified it as a whale shark and, with the assistance of the forest department, fishermen, and wildlife conservationists, guided the creature back to the sea where it belongs.
