
G20 Spouses Explore India’s Agricultural Excellence at Special Exhibition
Delhi, September 9, 2023 – The first ladies and spouses of G20 member countries were treated to an immersive experience of India’s agricultural prowess today at a unique exhibition organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, held at IARI Campus, Pusa.

The event was a diverse showcase of India’s rich agricultural heritage, innovative technology, and commitment to global food security. It featured several captivating elements:

Millet Rangoli: The spouses began their visit at the ‘Rangoli Area,’ where two stunning ‘Millet Rangolis’ captured attention. These intricate artworks were crafted using millet grains and local Indian motifs, symbolizing India’s agricultural traditions and global unity.

Agri-Startups: In the exhibition area, 15 Agri-startups presented innovative tech solutions addressing ground-level agricultural challenges. Themes included Climate Smart Agriculture, Innovation in Agriculture Value Chain, and Quality Assurance for Sustainable Consumption.

Live Cooking Session: Celebrity chefs Kunal Kapur, Anahita Dhondy, and Ajay Chopra led a live cooking session featuring millet-based culinary delights. The menu included appetizers, salads, main courses, and desserts, celebrating the International Year of Millets.
Culinary Diversity: A dedicated culinary section showcased millet-based dishes from all G20 member countries, honoring each nation’s culinary traditions.

Research and Development: The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) presented stalls demonstrating the latest innovations in precision agriculture, agricultural technology, and mechanization advancements. Key highlights included the Basmati revolution, India’s “Land of Spices,” and the significance of mushrooms.
Agriculture Street: This immersive journey showcased India’s agricultural legacy, with nine interactive stalls featuring experts, scientists, and farmers. It emphasized millets and India’s initiatives for food and nutritional security.
Token of Appreciation: After the event, the G20 Spouses received a hamper representing India’s cultural heritage. It included handwoven stoles, a bell metal figurine, and a Cheriyal Painting.

Insightful Interaction: The visit allowed the First Ladies and Spouses to gain insight into India’s agricultural progress, particularly in millet farming. Women farmers from 10 millet-producing states shared their experiences, and renowned chefs highlighted millet versatility in Indian cuisine.
