Hyderabad, September 15, 2023 – As the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) gears up for additional protests following the arrest of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in connection with the Information Technology corridor scam in Hyderabad, the Cyberabad police have issued a stern warning to the organizers.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Madhapur, Sundeep, announced that no official permission has been granted for the TDP’s planned protests, which are in collaboration with IT employees in and around the Madhapur area, scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
DCP Sundeep cautioned that any violations, including the circulation of protest-related messages on social media platforms, will result in strict legal action against both participants and those spreading the messages.
TDP leaders have organized an hour-long protest at the Manikonda Marrichettu junction on Friday evening, along with IT employees. On Saturday, they intend to hold a car rally in conjunction with tech professionals on the Outer Ring Road (ORR). The car rally is set to begin at the Nanakramguda Tollgate entry point, maintaining a speed of 60 km/h, and will run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Furthermore, the party has scheduled another protest on Saturday evening at the IIIT junction within the jurisdiction of Gachibowli Police Station.
Earlier this week, TDP supporters, joined by a group of IT professionals, staged protests in the IT hubs of Gachibowli and Madhapur. Notably, a significant protest took place at Wipro Circle on Wednesday, with participants carrying placards declaring their support for N. Chandrababu Naidu with slogans like “I am with CBN.”
However, on Thursday, the Cyberabad police thwarted a planned protest at Cyber Tower in Madhapur. Many youngsters who had gathered for a lunch-hour protest in this bustling area were either detained by the police or instructed to disperse.
Chandrababu Naidu was apprehended by the Andhra Pradesh CID last week in connection with a multi-crore Skill Development Corporation scam. A Vijayawada court subsequently remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days.
Naidu, who previously served as the Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh for nearly a decade, continues to enjoy significant support among tech professionals working in various companies. He is credited with elevating Hyderabad’s status on the global IT landscape by attracting several multinational corporations to the city.
