Congress Working Committee Resolutions: A Comprehensive Overview

Hyderabad, September 16, 2023: The Congress Working Committee (CWC) convened in Hyderabad on September 16, 2023, addressing a wide array of critical issues concerning the nation. The following resolutions and concerns were discussed and ratified during the meeting:

1. Tribute to Martyrs in Jammu & Kashmir:
The CWC extended its deepest sympathies to the families of the brave army and police officers who sacrificed their lives in Jammu & Kashmir. It strongly criticized the BJP and the Prime Minister for celebrating G20 while the nation mourned these losses.

2. Acknowledgment of Mallikarjun Kharge’s Leadership:
The CWC appreciated Shri. Mallikarjun Kharge’s contributions as Congress President, recognizing him as an inspirational leader who championed social justice, defended the Constitution against assaults by the Modi Government, and held the Prime Minister accountable for anti-people policies.

3. Commemorating the Bharat Jodo Yatra:
The CWC celebrated the first anniversary of the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Shri Rahul Gandhi, which aimed to unite people against divisive forces and address issues such as inequality, unemployment, and rising prices. It resolved to uphold the spirit of the Yatra throughout the nation.

4. Concerns Over Manipur Crisis:
The CWC expressed deep concern over the breakdown of the Constitutional machinery in Manipur, calling for the removal of the Chief Minister and the imposition of President’s Rule to address the ongoing violence and restore public order.

5. Escalation of Casteism, Communalism, and Regionalism:
The CWC criticized the Prime Minister’s failure to combat casteism, communalism, and regionalism, which have worsened under his leadership. It highlighted the BJP’s divisive rhetoric and misuse of investigative agencies for political vendettas.

6. Farmers’ Issues and Economic Challenges:
The CWC voiced concerns about farmers’ struggles, rising debts, and economic distress, emphasizing the government’s failure to fulfill its commitments. It highlighted the deteriorating economic outlook, sluggish investment, and declining exports.

7. Rising Unemployment and Inflation:
The CWC expressed grave concerns about increasing unemployment and surging prices, especially of essential commodities. It criticized the Prime Minister’s Rozgar Melas as inadequate and called for addressing these pressing issues.

8. Safeguarding the Constitution:
The CWC strongly rejected calls for a new Constitution and defended the foundational ideas of the Constitution drafted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and others. It called out the government’s hypocrisy in celebrating Mahatma Gandhi while allowing defamatory actions against him.

9. Parliamentary Scrutiny and Women’s Reservation Bill:
The CWC condemned the lack of parliamentary debate and scrutiny and demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) inquiry into the Adani business group’s transactions. It called for the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill during a special session of Parliament.

10. “One Nation, One Election” Proposal:
The CWC criticized the “One Nation, One Election” proposal as an attack on the federal structure of the country, highlighting the Modi government’s undermining of federalism through various means.

11. Stand on China Incursions:
The CWC voiced concerns over China’s incursions into Indian-held territory and the Prime Minister’s response. It called upon the government to take a resolute stand on the border dispute with China.

12. Commitment to Communal Harmony and Social Equity:
The CWC pledged its commitment to communal harmony, social and economic fraternity, and fulfilling the aspirations of the youth, striving for a strong, proud, and respected nation.

13. Support for the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA):
The CWC welcomed the consolidation of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) and reaffirmed its resolve to make it an electoral success to counter divisive politics.
