London, January 28
Telugu Association of London (TAL) celebrated Sankranti on Saturday 28th January 2023 in East London. More than 300 people from London and surrounding areas participated in the event, with Bommala Koluvu, Bhogi Pallu, Rangoli competition, cookery competition and Kite making competition in the colourful atmosphere of Sankranthi festival. Students of TAL Cultural Center entertained everyone with various songs and dances. Prizes were awarded to the winners. A large number of women prepared a feast for all those who attended these celebrations with traditional dishes prepared and brought from their homes.
Mayor of Red Bridge Council Tavathure Jayaranjan was the chief guest of the program and praised the service and cultural activities undertaken by TAL. Children and their parents enthusiastically participated in this program which was held for more than five hours.
TAL Vice Chairman Rajesh Toleti said that he thanked the parents, TAL members and workers for their contribution in every program undertaken by TAL. Trustee Giridhar Putlur gave details of training classes conducted by TAL Cultural Center (TCC). Telugu people are urged to enrol their children in TAL cultural centers and contribute towards imparting Telugu language and culture to the future generations.
Cultural Trustee Navin Gadamsethi thanked the subcommittee members Roy Boppanna, Vijay Belide, Himabindu, Uma Geerwani, Sridevi Alleddula, Anil Reddy, Divya Reddy, Sujatha Gadamsethi, Harini Geddam, Ashok Madishetti and other volunteers who helped to organize the TAL Sankranti celebrations successfully. TAL Trustees Anil Anantula (Secretary), Kishore Kasturi (IT), Ravinder Reddy Gummakonda (Frundraising) and Anita Nomula (Sports) also participated in this.
