Hyderabad, September 27: Unusual scenes unfolded in Hyderabad as heavy rains battered the city on Wednesday evening, causing a baby crocodile to emerge from an open drain in the Chintal Basti area of Khairatabad. This unexpected sighting triggered panic among local residents, as the reptile ventured into the heart of the city.
The surprise appearance of the young crocodile from the rain-swollen drain caught everyone off guard. Concerned citizens promptly alerted the police, who, in turn, notified the Forest Department.
The incident occurred near a construction site for a bridge over the drain, attracting a large crowd of curious onlookers eager to catch a glimpse of the unexpected visitor. It is believed that the crocodile was swept into the area by the floodwaters.
Following a four-hour-long operation, the Forest Department, with assistance from Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams and the police, successfully captured the crocodile. The reptile was subsequently relocated to the Nehru Zoological Park in the city.
This unusual encounter serves as a reminder of the unpredictable and diverse wildlife that can sometimes emerge during extreme weather events, urging authorities and citizens to remain vigilant and prepared during adverse weather conditions.
