In a significant development for the state of Telangana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit on October 1, where he will lay the foundation stone and dedicate a series of transformative projects worth more than Rs 13,500 crore. The Prime Minister’s visit will commence in Mahabubnagar at approximately 2:15 p.m., where he will address a public gathering and inaugurate projects spanning multiple sectors, including road infrastructure, rail connectivity, petroleum, natural gas, and higher education.
The projects to be inaugurated encompass a broad spectrum of developmental initiatives, enhancing the region’s connectivity and economic prospects. One of the key highlights is the launch of a train service, marking a significant moment in the region’s transportation network.
Among the road infrastructure projects set for inauguration are two critical components of the Nagpur-Vijayawada Economic Corridor—a 108 km four-lane access-controlled Greenfield highway from Warangal to Khammam section of NH-163G and a 90 km four-lane access-controlled Greenfield highway from Khammam to Vijayawada section of NH-163G. These projects, with a combined investment of approximately Rs 6,400 crore, will substantially reduce travel distances, benefitting commuters traveling between Warangal, Khammam, and Vijayawada.
Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will dedicate the four-laning of the 59 km Suryapet to Khammam section of NH-365BB, a crucial part of the Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam Corridor developed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana. This project, with an investment of around Rs 2,460 crore, will enhance connectivity to Khammam district and coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh.
Rail connectivity in the region will also see a boost with the inauguration of the 37 km Jaklair-Krishna New Railway Line, an investment exceeding Rs 500 crore. This new rail line will bring areas of the backward district of Narayanpet onto the railway map for the first time, opening up new opportunities for the local population.
Prime Minister Modi will also flag-off the Hyderabad (Kacheguda) – Raichur – Hyderabad (Kacheguda) train service via video conferencing. This service will connect several districts in Telangana with Raichur district in Karnataka, providing much-needed rail connectivity to previously underserved areas. This connectivity will prove particularly beneficial to students, daily commuters, laborers, and the local handloom industry.
On the energy front, the Prime Minister will dedicate the Hassan-Cherlapally LPG Pipeline Project, constructed at a cost of about Rs 2,170 crore. This pipeline, stretching from Hassan in Karnataka to Cherlapalli, a suburb of Hyderabad, will offer a secure, cost-efficient, and eco-friendly mode of LPG transportation and distribution.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone for the ‘Multi-Product Petroleum Pipeline of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) from Krishnapatnam to Hyderabad (Malkapur).’ This 425-kilometer pipeline, with an estimated cost of Rs 1,940 crore, is expected to provide a safer, faster, and more environmentally friendly means of transporting petroleum products in the region.
Lastly, the Prime Minister will inaugurate five new buildings at Hyderabad University, including the School of Economics, School of Mathematics & Statistics, School of Management Studies, Lecture Hall Complex – III, and Sarojini Naidu School of Arts & Communication. These additions to the university campus will further enhance educational opportunities and facilities in the region.
The inauguration of these diverse projects underscores the government’s commitment to advancing infrastructure, connectivity, and education in Telangana, promising significant socio-economic benefits for the state and its people
