*Bengaluru, October 1, 2023:* Karnataka Police have initiated an investigation into a road accident involving actor Nagabhushan, resulting in the death of one pedestrian and leaving another in critical condition. The incident occurred at Konanakunte cross in the Kumaraswamy Layout Traffic police station area on Saturday night.
The actor claimed that the victims were walking on the road, and the police are currently in the process of verifying his statement. Partha, the son of the deceased couple, filed a complaint regarding the incident. According to police sources, the complainant alleged that the actor had struck the couple while they were walking on the footpath.
Police reports indicate that B. Krishna and his wife Prema were on the footpath when they were suddenly hit by the car. Sadly, 45-year-old Prema succumbed to her injuries, while her husband Krishna is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in critical condition. Actor Nagabhushan provided an account of the incident, explaining that he had been visiting friends in R.R. Nagar and was on his way home to J.P. Nagar.
He stated, “At about 9.45 p.m., while driving, a couple came onto the road from the footpath. I was shocked and hit them. Subsequently, the vehicle collided with an electric pole on the footpath and came to a stop.” The woman sustained injuries to her head and face and was unresponsive. The man, although injured, was able to speak.
Nagabhushan attempted to transport them to the hospital in his car but encountered difficulties starting the vehicle. With the assistance of auto drivers, he managed to get the injured individuals to the hospital. Unfortunately, the woman was declared dead upon arrival. The police are currently verifying the actor’s statements, and further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
