Virat Kohli Equals Sachin Tendulkar’s ODI Century Record with His 49th Century Kolkata, Nov 5: In a stunning display of skill, Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten century, marking his 49th century in One-day International cricket.
This accomplishment equals the record held by batting legend Sachin Tendulkar for the most ODI centuries. Kohli’s century, made against South Africa at the Eden Gardens, featured ten boundaries and came off 119 balls. The remarkable feat places Kohli on par with Tendulkar, who had previously held the record for the most ODI centuries.
Kohli reached this milestone in just 289 ODIs, outpacing Tendulkar’s achievement in his 463rd match. Kohli’s unbeaten 101 off 121 deliveries not only demonstrated his outstanding performance but also marked his 79th century for India. This leaves him just 21 centuries short of Tendulkar’s world record of 100 international centuries.

In addition to this achievement, Kohli became the second Indian batter after Tendulkar to score 3000 runs against South Africa in international cricket. Recently, in a match against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium, Kohli set a new record for the most 1000-run years in ODIs in men’s cricket, surpassing Tendulkar’s previous record of achieving this milestone seven times.
Kohli has maintained excellent form throughout the World Cup, ranking as the third-highest run-getter in the World Cup 2023. He has amassed 442 runs, including four half-centuries and one century.
