Simla, November 12:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the festival of Deepavali by joining Indian Army soldiers stationed at Lepcha in Himachal Pradesh, near the India-China border. Adorned in an Army camouflage jacket and a black-banded hat, Modi expressed his gratitude to the soldiers, stating, “My festival is where you are.”

Interacting with the troops, Modi praised their unwavering courage and dedication, emphasizing their sacrifices in safeguarding the nation. He shared images and videos of the celebration on social media, affirming the soldiers’ role as the “perfect embodiment of bravery and resilience.”

During his address, the Prime Minister highlighted significant advancements in the Indian Army, mentioning that over 500 women officers have been granted permanent commission. He proudly noted the inclusion of women pilots flying fighter planes like the Rafale.

Modi underscored the importance of the soldiers’ commitment to national security, asserting, “India is safe as long as these brave friends of mine stand firm and steadfast like the Himalayas on its borders.”

Lepcha, situated in the challenging terrain of Lahaul-Spiti district, spans 13,835 sq km with harsh climatic conditions, experiencing temperatures below minus 20-degree Celsius in winter. The Prime Minister’s tradition of celebrating Deepavali with soldiers dates back to 2014, with previous celebrations at locations such as Siachen Glacier, Amritsar border, Kinnaur, and Kargil.

This year’s celebration in Lepcha symbolizes the resilience and dedication of India’s armed forces, ensuring the nation’s safety and progress.
