Hyderabad, December 03: The Majlis Party, renowned as the dominant force in the Old City, has once again affirmed its stronghold by securing victories in seven seats, successfully retaining its grip on the region. Despite initial speculations suggesting potential losses in Nampally and Yakatpura, the Majlis Party emerged triumphant in these constituencies as well.
In addition to its traditional strongholds, the Majlis Party expanded its electoral footprint by contesting in Rajendranagar and Jubilee Hills constituencies. However, experts believe that the Majlis candidates in these seats may have inadvertently contributed to the success of BRS party candidates, particularly Prakash Reddy in Rajendranagar and Maganti Gopinath in Jubilee Hills. The split in minority votes, as suggested by political analysts, played a role in their victories.
Key victories for the Majlis Party include Kausar Mohinoddin in Karwan, who faced a formidable challenge from BJP candidate Amersingh but ultimately secured the constituency. In Nampally, former mayor Majid Hussain faced stiff competition from Congress candidate Feroze Khan but clinched victory by a narrow margin.
The Majlis Party continued its winning streak in Bahadurpura, where candidate Mubeen secured a decisive victory with a majority of 67,025 votes. The party’s stalwarts, including floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, Mir Zulfikar Ali, and Ahmed Balala Charminar in Malakpet, reaffirmed the Majlis Party’s unwavering influence in the Old Town.
The final seat tally for the Majlis Party in the Old City is as follows:
- Charminar – Mir Zulfiqar Ali
- Chandrayanagutta – Akbaruddin Owaisi
- Bahadurpura – Mohammad Mubeen
- Yakatpura – Jafar Hussain Meraz
