India Secures Convincing Win Over South Africa; Suryakumar Yadav’s Century Shines Bright

Following a commanding 106-run victory against South Africa in the third and final T20I, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav downplayed concerns about his ankle, stating it’s not as severe as initially thought. Yadav’s stellar performance included a dazzling century at the Wanderers, where he scored 100 runs off just 55 balls, leading India to a formidable total. This century marked his fourth in the T20 format, putting him on par with Rohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell for the most T20I centuries by a male batter.

Addressing his ankle injury, Yadav expressed satisfaction, saying, “I am walking, so it’s all good.” He highlighted the joy of achieving a century in a winning cause for the team. Initially at 27 runs off 25 balls, Yadav unleashed an onslaught in the second half of the innings, scoring 73 runs in the next 31 balls.

Reflecting on his approach, Yadav emphasized the importance of knowing one’s game and enjoying the moment. Despite not fielding after the ankle injury, India faced no setback as Kuldeep Yadav, celebrating his birthday, delivered a stellar performance, claiming career-best figures of 5-17.

Suryakumar Yadav commended Kuldeep’s fearless cricket and the team’s character. India’s decision to bat first proved successful, as they posted a formidable total. South Africa, chasing 200, fell short, with captain Aiden Markram acknowledging that while it was a chaseable total, there were positives to take forward and areas to improve.
