Flight operations were significantly impacted by dense fog, prompting officials to redirect several flights to alternative airports.
Among the affected flights were those arriving from Muscat, Doha, Dammam, and Riyadh. Oman Air’s WY235 Muscat-Hyderabad flight was diverted to Bengaluru, while IndiGo’s 6E5012 Mumbai-Hyderabad and 6E 495 Chennai-Hyderabad flights were rerouted to Nagpur. Vistara’s UK 873 flight from Mumbai was sent back to Mumbai, and IndiGo’s 6E 1318 Doha-Hyderabad flight was redirected to Nagpur.
Flights affected also included UK 897 Bengaluru-Hyderabad (diverted back to Bengaluru), 6E 744 Goa-Hyderabad (diverted to Bengaluru), and 6E 867 Chandigarh-Hyderabad (diverted to Vijayawada). Additionally, 6E 086 from Dammam was rerouted to Nagpur, and 6E 484 Bengaluru-Hyderabad was diverted to Vijayawada.
Air India Express’s I5 1576 flight was sent back to Bengaluru, and IndiGo’s 6E 1493 from Riyadh was diverted to Bengaluru. The diversions were a result of the challenging visibility conditions caused by dense fog, impacting the smooth operation of flights at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Travelers were advised to check with their respective airlines for updates and alternative arrangements.
