Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy asserted on Wednesday that the Congress government inherited an empty treasury from the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) administration, accusing them of misusing public funds and engaging in corruption.
Revanth Reddy, in his inaugural press conference, criticized BRS leaders for alleged financial misconduct and announced ongoing judicial inquiries into corruption allegations. He specifically targeted BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao, claiming that the government will recover ill-gotten wealth accumulated during their rule.
Highlighting financial discrepancies, Reddy emphasized wasteful expenditures, including the demolition of Secretariat buildings. He accused former Chief Minister KCR and associates of procuring 22 land cruisers, signaling investigations into various projects and hinting at possible action under the Revenue Recovery Act.
Addressing concerns about the state’s financial situation, Reddy vowed to end misuse of public money and corruption, aiming for revenue surplus. He disclosed discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to secure pending funds and grants from the Centre while affirming the commitment to implement guarantees and welfare schemes.
Regarding employment, Reddy assured the filling of two lakh government vacancies by December 9, 2024, pending the reconstitution of the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC). Responding to queries about language controversies, he stated there were no issues in Telangana and emphasized the dominance of Telugu on signboards, assuring rectification if needed.
