Hyderabad, February 17
After the farmers sold the paddy during the Kharif season, the prices of rice went up suddenly. Millers and traders conspired to increase the prices and put a lid on the exploitation. Due to this, the people who went to the market to buy rice are facing problem of hike. The reason for that is the increase of Rs.4,400 per quintal of new rice which has never been seen before. Maximum Rate Rs.3,500 to Rs.3,600 per quintal for the last 50 years. Rates hiked Rs.500 to Rs.800 per quintal in just 15 days. Even before Sankranti festival, the price was less than 4 thousand and after that price suddenly jumped by Rs.400. It seems that the magic of the millers is the reason why rice prices have increased three times since December. People are facing difficulties as the rate of rice is increasing within 15 days.

In the market, the price of old fine rice is Rs.5500 to Rs.6500 per quintal. Common thin varieties currently range from Rs.46 to Rs.58 per kg. Kurnool Sona per kg Rs. 58, Warangal sona is selling at Rs.55. The common people are worried that if the government does not take action against the increase in the price of rice, they will have to suffer more.
