Telangana’s Praja Palana Program Receives Over 57 Lakh Applications
Hyderabad, Jan 4: The ongoing Praja Palana program in Telangana has garnered a remarkable response with authorities receiving approximately 57 lakh applications from people across the state. The majority of applications are related to the six guarantees promised by the Congress party during the recent Assembly elections.
With just two days left for the program to conclude, long queues were observed at counters throughout the state on Thursday. People are applying not only for the promised guarantees but also for necessities like ration cards.
Aadhaar cards and ration cards have been made compulsory for submitting applications for the six guarantees. Individuals without ration cards are also submitting applications to officials for the same. Mee Seva centers are witnessing a surge in applicants seeking to update their Aadhaar card details.
Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumar announced that Praja Palana will be conducted once every four months, providing those who missed the current application window with another opportunity. The deadline for application submission is January 4, and arrangements are being made for data entry of all applications by January 17.
District collectors have been directed to oversee the data entry process, with mandal revenue and mandal development officers monitoring at the mandal level. District-level supervisory officers for Praja Palana will supervise data entry at the district level.
A training program for trainers of trainees is underway at the district level, and data entry operators will begin their work on January 5, concluding on January 17.
Launched on December 28, the Praja Palana program covers various guarantees, including monthly financial assistance for women, subsidized cooking gas cylinders, free electricity up to 200 units, and financial support for farmers, agricultural laborers, and housing construction. The government clarified that existing beneficiaries of Rythu Bandhu and pension schemes need not reapply, streamlining the process with a common application form for five out of the six guarantees.
