New Delhi, Jan 28: The NCC Directorate Maharashtra contingent clinched the prestigious Prime Minister’s Banner at the Republic Day Camp-2024 event for the third time, announced the Ministry of Defence on Sunday.
Comprising 122 cadets, the Maharashtra Directorate contingent secured the Champions Trophy and the esteemed Prime Minister’s Banner at the Republic Day Camp (RDC-2024) by emerging as the top-ranked contingent overall, in addition to securing numerous other trophies and honors.
Maj Gen Yogender Singh, ADG NCC Directorate Maharashtra, praised the team’s remarkable achievement, highlighting their dedication, hard work, and commitment. He commended the contingent for winning the RDC banner competition an impressive 20 times so far, including consecutively for the past three years.
The Ministry of Defence noted the significant female representation in various contingents at the Republic Day parade. For the first time, an all-girl Tri-Service Marching contingent, led by Senior Under Officer Tanu Tevatia from the Uttar Pradesh Directorate, was showcased. Additionally, the Girls Marching contingent (Army), comprising 148 cadets, was led by Senior Under Officer Punnya Ponnamma from the Karnataka and Goa Directorate.
Furthermore, the NCC band featured an all-girl representation, with the Combined Band consisting of girls from Birla Balika Vidya Peeth Pilani, Rajasthan, and the North-Eastern Region, led by Senior Under Officers Yashasvica Gaur and Ankita Sharma, respectively, the ministry added.
