Telangana Government Felicitates Padma Awardees with Cash Prize and Monthly Pension
Hyderabad, Feb 4: The Telangana government honored Padma awardees on Sunday, presenting them with a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh each. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced a monthly pension of Rs 25,000 for Padma Shri awardee poets and artists during the felicitation ceremony.
Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and popular actor Chiranjeevi, both recipients of the Padma Vibhushan, were among those felicitated by the Chief Minister.
Padma Shri awardees Dasari Kondappa, D. Uma Maheshwari, Gaddam Sammaiah, Velu Ananda Chari, Kethavath Somlal, and Kurella Vittalacharya were also honored with a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh each.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, along with ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Jupally Krishna Rao, P. Srinivasa Reddy, and government advisor Vem Narender Reddy, joined in felicitating the awardees.
CM Revanth Reddy stressed the government’s commitment to honoring Padma awardees, emphasizing the apolitical nature of the event. He expressed pride in the Telugu community’s achievements and called for unity in preserving culture and traditions.
Furthermore, he highlighted the struggles faced by artists in meeting their daily needs and announced the monthly pension for Padma Shri awardee poets and artists.
Venkaiah Naidu, in his remarks, expressed gratitude for the recognition and praised the Chief Minister for honoring unsung heroes. He urged citizens, especially those in public life, to uphold high values and protect ethical standards.
The ceremony concluded with accolades for Chiranjeevi’s illustrious career, spanning over 46 years and more than 150 films, highlighting his enduring legacy in the film industry.
