Lucknow, February 5th: A distinctive gathering took place on Sunday at a local hospital in Lucknow, where the “guests” were all test tube babies born through the In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) technique.

Attended by 255 children born through IVF, the event included Lucknow’s first IVF baby, Prarthna, who is now a young adult and recently gave birth to Pavani naturally.

Dr. Gita Khanna, a seasoned IVF expert and director of Ajanta Hospital, highlighted the increasing affordability of IVF treatment, particularly among middle-class working women opting to freeze their eggs for future delivery. This trend, she noted, allows women to experience motherhood at their convenience, marking a significant shift in societal norms.

Dr. Khanna emphasized the growing popularity of egg freezing for future delivery, previously perceived as a luxury for celebrities and the affluent class but now accessible to a wider demographic. She noted a substantial increase in such cases, which were once rare but now number in the hundreds and continue to rise.

As the visionary behind the naming of both Prarthna and Pavani, Dr. Khanna cited them as sources of inspiration for aspiring IVF parents, underscoring the transformative impact of IVF technology on family dynamics and reproductive choices.
