Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) Releases New Group 1 Notification

Hyderabad, February 19: The Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) has issued a fresh notification for the recruitment of 563 posts under Group 1 across the state. This comes as TSPSC cancels the previous Group 1 notification, which was released less than two years ago, in a decision made during a committee meeting held on Monday.

The newly announced vacancies are distributed across Multizone 1 and Multizone 2, with 258 positions in the former and 305 in the latter. Among the prominent posts available are 140 positions for Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO) and 115 for Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), along with 48 posts for Commercial Tax Officer and 45 for Deputy Collector.

Prospective candidates can apply online from February 23rd to March 14th, with an option for editing applications available from March 23rd to 27th. Notably, the commission has extended a fee waiver for applicants who had previously applied in 2022.

The preliminary exam for Group 1 is scheduled to be held in May or June, with examination centers set up across 33 districts in offline mode. Candidates will have the opportunity to select their preferred exam center district during the application process. The main examination is slated for September or October, the dates of which will be announced after the preliminary exam results.

In a significant departure from the previous selection process, candidates will now be selected for the mains based on open merit, with the ratio set at 1:50. This change aims to ensure fairness and meritocracy in the selection process.

Furthermore, the age limit for uniform services has been increased by two years, reflecting recent government orders.

TSPSC’s decision to cancel the previous notification follows a series of challenges, including a paper leak and subsequent legal disputes. With the withdrawal of the latest case filed in the Supreme Court, TSPSC opted to cancel the old notification and release a new one, incorporating 60 additional posts.

The recruitment process aims to fill crucial positions across various departments, contributing to the administrative strength of the state.
