In the ongoing dispute between India and China over the territory of Arunachal Pradesh, China has once again reiterated its stance, asserting that the region is an integral part of its territory.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian made a statement today reaffirming China’s historical claim over Arunachal Pradesh, which it refers to as Zhongnan. Jian emphasized that China had maintained governance over the area in the past and asserted that there is no dispute regarding its ownership.
Responding to Jian’s comments, Indian External Affairs Minister Jai Shankar dismissed China’s claims as “absurd and ridiculous,” stating that such assertions were nothing new.
Jian condemned Shankar’s remarks, stating that the border between India and China remains unstable and reiterating China’s sovereignty over Arunachal Pradesh. He clarified that despite India establishing the region as Arunachal Pradesh in 1987, China has consistently protested against it, maintaining that Zhongnan belongs to China.
The latest exchange highlights the ongoing tensions between the two nations over territorial claims, with no apparent resolution in sight. The dispute continues to be a point of contention in bilateral relations between India and China.
