Tragedy Strikes Holi Celebrations: Six Youths Drown in Telangana
Hyderabad, March 25: The joyous atmosphere of Holi turned somber as six youths met with a tragic fate, drowning in two separate incidents across Telangana on Monday.
In the first incident, four young individuals lost their lives in the Wardha river in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad district. The group had ventured to the river for a bath following their Holi celebrations with friends.
The tragic event unfolded near Thatipalli in Kautala mandal, where the youths, aged between 22 and 25 and hailing from Nadeemabad village, found themselves engulfed by the river’s currents.
The victims, identified as Alam Sai (22), P. Kamlakar (25), Uppula Santosh (23), and Y. Praveen (24), were retrieved from the water with the assistance of local fishermen and swimmers. Their bodies were subsequently transported for post-mortem examination. Police suspect that alcohol consumption may have been a contributing factor.
In a separate incident, two more youths lost their lives to drowning in a lake situated in Rangareddy district. The tragedy unfolded at Pedda Cheruvu in Maheshwaram mandal, adding to the sorrow of the day’s events.
