The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission, urging action against Rahul Gandhi for his accusations of match-fixing against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the INDIA bloc rally held at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on Sunday.
In its complaint, the BJP asserted that Gandhi’s remarks constitute a violation of the model code of conduct, accusing him of spreading disinformation by questioning the authenticity of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the fairness of elections.
“The utter lies propagated by Rahul Gandhi blatantly disregard the laws of the land and the model code of conduct,” stated the BJP in its complaint to the EC.
During his address at the INDIA bloc rally, Gandhi launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Modi, alleging match-fixing in elections and asserting that the BJP would undermine the Constitution if re-elected.
Describing Gandhi’s comments as inflammatory, the BJP contended that they were intended to instill doubt and mistrust among the public regarding the electoral process.
Furthermore, the BJP accused Gandhi of deliberately misleading the public and propagating false narratives to disrupt the peace and stability of the nation.
In its complaint, the BJP called upon the poll panel to instruct Gandhi to issue an unconditional apology to the Election Commission and Prime Minister Modi for making baseless and distorted allegations against them.
