Hyderabad, The government has extended a helping hand to farmers affected by the recent untimely rains, as it gears up to provide compensation for crop losses. The Agriculture Department, after conducting thorough surveys in the aftermath of four days of untimely rains last month, identified significant crop damage in 10 districts across the state.
Field-level officials from the Agriculture Department, along with AEO and AO level personnel, conducted on-site surveys to assess the extent of the damage. Through this process, it was revealed that crops spanning 15,814.03 acres had been adversely affected by the untimely rains. Notably, 15,246 farmers across the ten districts were identified as suffering from crop losses.

In compliance with the Model Code of Conduct, the government obtained permission from the EC to facilitate compensation for crop damage. Consequently, arrangements are underway to transfer the allocated funds directly into the bank accounts of affected farmers.
The district of Kamareddy emerged as the most severely affected area, with officials reporting the highest crop loss within its boundaries. Out of the total 15,814.03 acres of damaged crops, Kamareddy alone accounted for 10,328 acres of losses within a span of four hours. Following Kamareddy, Nizamabad district recorded losses on 1652 acres across 25 pits, while Sirisilla reported damage on 1014 acres spanning six pits.
In comparison, Siddhapet, Medak, and Adilabad districts incurred losses on less than a thousand acres each. Similarly, Nirmal, Manchiryala, and Karimnagar districts reported losses on fewer than 500 acres, with Sangareddy district experiencing the least damage, recording losses on just 76 acres.
