Chennai, April 17: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin made a fervent appeal on Wednesday for the removal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from office, citing concerns over the nation’s future under his leadership.

Issuing a statement on the eve of the final day of campaigning for the April 19 Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu, CM Stalin asserted, “Narendra Modi should be removed from the post of Prime Minister. The country cannot afford to have him as the PM for a third term.”

Accusing the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of harboring intentions to transform India into an autocratic state, Stalin underscored the urgency of preventing such a scenario.

Stalin further criticized the Prime Minister and his Cabinet for their alleged apathy towards Tamil Nadu’s grievances, particularly regarding the lack of financial assistance for flood relief efforts. He emphasized that the Centre’s indifference signaled a disregard for Tamil Nadu’s welfare.

Highlighting apprehensions among the populace regarding the BJP’s agenda, Stalin warned against potential attempts to redraw state boundaries and centralize power, potentially undermining the autonomy of states.

“It is imperative to prevent the BJP from assuming power to safeguard Tamil Nadu’s interests and preserve the rights of states,” asserted the Chief Minister.

Stalin also denounced AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s decision to contest the elections independently, alleging it to be a premeditated move orchestrated by the BJP. He insinuated that the AIADMK could align with the BJP post-elections if deemed necessary.

With 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and one in Puducherry slated for polling on April 19, the electorate eagerly anticipates the outcome, with results scheduled for announcement on June 4.

As political fervor intensifies in Tamil Nadu, CM Stalin’s assertions underscore the heightened stakes in the upcoming elections, with the electorate poised to shape the nation’s trajectory amidst escalating rhetoric and ideological battles.
