New Delhi, June 20: In a significant relief for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, a city court granted him bail on Thursday in the excise policy scam case.
The bail was granted by the Rouse Avenue Court. However, sources indicated that the Delhi CM is unlikely to be released from jail immediately. He is expected to be set free on Friday once the court orders reach Tihar Jail.
Earlier in the day, the court reserved its order on Kejriwal’s bail plea in the money laundering case connected to the liquor policy scam. Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21. He was granted temporary relief by the Supreme Court, allowing him to campaign in the 2024 General Elections. Kejriwal surrendered again on June 2, as per court directions. Notably, the court extended his judicial custody until July 3, a day ago.
