New Delhi, June 20: IndiGo announced on Thursday that it has launched a cadet pilot program in partnership with leading aviation academies, marking a milestone in its 13-year history.

The 21-month course includes three months of ground schooling at Garuda Aviation Academy in Gurugram, followed by 12 months of training at 43 Air School in South Africa. This institution has a strong track record of training over 6,000 ab-initio pilots, according to a statement from IndiGo.

Over the past 13 years, IndiGo has successfully inducted more than 1,000 pilots through comprehensive training programs that encompass commercial pilot license and A320 type rating, the statement added.

Captain Ashim Mittra, Senior Vice President of Flight Operations at IndiGo, emphasized the program’s alignment with the Government of India’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) initiative, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to enhancing connectivity with smaller and medium-sized towns and cities.

“At IndiGo, we prioritize the personal and professional growth of our pilots,” Captain Mittra stated.
