Qualcomm, a leading chip maker, introduced the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 Mobile Platform on Tuesday, aiming to bring advanced technologies to more affordable smartphones. The new platform is designed to make cutting-edge features, including generative AI, mobile gaming, and high-quality camera and video capabilities, accessible to a broader range of consumers.
One of the standout features of the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is its on-device GenAI capabilities, with support for large language models (LLMs) such as Baichuan-7B and Llama 2 at 1B parameters. This enables a range of AI-driven functionalities directly on the device, enhancing user experiences across various applications.
For mobile gaming enthusiasts, the platform introduces new experiences powered by the Qualcomm Adreno GPU, which promises nearly 40% faster performance. Additionally, it offers professional-grade camera features, including a 12-bit triple ISP and 4K sHDR video capture, delivering high-quality photos and videos.
“Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 will bring the best of the 7-series to more mid-tier devices by selecting top 7-series features including on-device AI support,” said Chris Patrick, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Handsets at Qualcomm.
Xiaomi is set to be the first to adopt the new platform, with the first device expected to be announced next month. Other leading OEMs, including realme, Samsung, and Sharp, are also expected to incorporate Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 in their upcoming devices.
The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 platform boasts nearly 20% improved CPU performance thanks to the latest Qualcomm Kryo CPU, up to 40% accelerated GPU, over 30% better AI performance, and 12% overall power savings. These enhancements make it a powerful yet efficient solution for mid-tier smartphones.
Last month, Qualcomm also launched the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 mobile platform to make 5G accessible to billions of smartphone users worldwide, including in India. The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 platform offers gigabit 5G connectivity, robust power efficiency for all-day battery life, and advanced camera capabilities, further expanding the availability of 5G technology.
With the launch of Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, Qualcomm continues to push the boundaries of mobile technology, making high-performance features more accessible to consumers around the world.
