HYDRA Operation Triggers Panic: Property Registrations Drop, Revenue Dips by ₹320 Crore

The recent wave of demolitions under the HYDRA operation has caused widespread panic, leading to a sharp decline in property registrations across key districts in Hyderabad. The impact is particularly evident in the August figures, which show a significant drop in both the number of registrations and the revenue generated.

According to official reports, 58,000 property registrations were recorded in July across Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, and Sangareddy districts under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). However, by August, this number had fallen to just 41,200—a reduction of nearly 17,000 registrations.

The financial repercussions are equally striking. While revenue from property registrations in July amounted to ₹1,105 crore, it dropped by ₹320 crore in August, bringing the total to ₹785 crore.

Officials attribute this sharp decline to the ongoing HYDRA demolitions, which have created a climate of uncertainty and fear among property buyers and sellers. The registration department is feeling the strain, and concerns are mounting that the downward trend could persist if the panic continues.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, keeping a watchful eye on the potential long-term effects of the HYDRA operation on the region’s real estate market and overall economic health. Though the full impact remains unclear, current data paints a concerning picture for the future.
