
Telangana Faces Severe Flood Damage: Losses Estimated at Over ₹10,000 Crore

As of September 8, 2024, Telangana has been severely affected by extreme rainfall, resulting in widespread flooding across the state. Various sectors have reported substantial losses, with the total damage estimate reaching a staggering ₹10,320.72 crore.

Key sectors impacted include:
1. Human Loss: ₹1.40 crore, accounting for deaths due to the floods.
2. Housing: ₹25.30 crore, with significant damage to homes across affected regions.
3. Animal Husbandry: ₹4.35 crore in losses, due to livestock casualties and infrastructure damage.
4. Fisheries: ₹56.41 crore, severely impacting local fishing communities.
5. Agriculture: ₹231.13 crore, with large-scale crop losses reported.
6. Roads (R&B and Panchayati Raj Departments): The most significant sector, with damages estimated at ₹7,693.53 crore, as roads have been washed away or severely damaged.
7. Power: ₹179.88 crore, due to damages to electricity infrastructure.
8. School Buildings: ₹27.31 crore, with several educational institutions affected.
9. Irrigation: ₹483.00 crore, as critical irrigation systems have been destroyed.
10. Drinking Water Supply (Municipal Bodies): ₹331.37 crore, as floodwaters have disrupted water supply systems.
11. Urban Development: ₹1,216.57 crore, reflecting the impact on urban infrastructure.
12. Community Assets & Buildings (Primary Health Centers & Anganwadis): ₹70.47 crore, due to damage to essential public facilities.
