
Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Visits MINExpo 2024 in Las Vegas, Explores Major Strategic Partnerships and Mining Innovations
Las Vegas, September 24, 2024: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka commenced his visit to MINExpo 2024, the world’s largest mining exhibition, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center from September 24–26. The prestigious event, which attracted over 44,000 mining professionals from more than 125 countries, provided a global platform for showcasing the latest mining innovations, machinery, and cutting-edge technologies. The Deputy Chief Minister’s visit was aimed at exploring potential collaborations and investment opportunities in Telangana’s rapidly growing mining sector.
On the opening day of his visit, Bhatti Vikramarka engaged in a series of high-level meetings with key mining equipment manufacturers. He first met with the management of Komatsu, where he reviewed some of their latest advanced products. These included the D475A-8 mining dozer, the GD955-7 motor grader, the ZT44 blasthole drill, the HRX 1000 sizer, the 12HM26 continuous miner, and the WE2350-4 hybrid wheel loader. The Deputy CM expressed keen interest in how these technologies could be leveraged to boost mining operations in Telangana while maintaining a focus on sustainability and operational efficiency.

Following his discussions with Komatsu, Vikramarka held a meeting with the senior management of Caterpillar Inc., where he explored their latest technological advancements. Among the products reviewed were the 372-tonne Cat® 798 AC mining truck, configured for autonomous haulage, the Cat® Dynamic Energy Transfer (DET) system, the Cat R1700 XE and R2900 XE load-haul-dump (LHD) loaders, the PGS 1260 HD Energy Storage System (ESS) module, and the MEC500 mobile equipment charging system. The exploration of Caterpillar’s state-of-the-art equipment underscored Vikramarka’s commitment to incorporating autonomous and energy-efficient technologies into Telangana’s mining infrastructure.
In addition to his meetings with Komatsu and Caterpillar, Bhatti Vikramarka met with executives from BKT Tyres and the Wirtgen Group, where he examined their latest product offerings tailored for the mining industry. These discussions further emphasized Telangana’s focus on modernizing its mining sector through the adoption of advanced technologies and equipment that improve operational efficiency and reduce environmental impacts.
A key highlight of the visit was Vikramarka’s meeting with high-ranking U.S. government officials. The delegation, led by Arun Venkataraman, Assistant Secretary of Global Markets, included several notable figures such as Senior Policy Advisor Olimar Rivera Noa, Commercial Specialist Shantanu Sarkar, International Trade Specialist Cornelius Gyamfi, Global Energy Sector Lead Derek Schlickeisen, and Global Design and Construction Trade Specialist Jasmine Braswell. The discussions centered on potential U.S. investments in Telangana’s mining and industrial sectors.
During the meeting, Vikramarka highlighted the immense growth potential of Telangana, particularly in the context of Hyderabad’s emergence as a major economic hub. He discussed strategic initiatives, including the ongoing development of the “Fourth City” in Hyderabad, which is expected to drive further economic growth in the region. Both sides recognized the importance of sustainable mining practices and the growing significance of rare earth metal mining, which plays a crucial role in the global supply chain for high-tech industries.
The talks were highly productive, with the U.S. officials expressing confidence in Telangana’s growth trajectory, citing the positive experiences of American companies operating in Hyderabad. Venkataraman and his team expressed strong interest in facilitating future investments and strategic partnerships with Telangana, especially in light of the recent bilateral meetings between the heads of state of India and the United States.

Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized the need for deeper cooperation between the two countries in sectors like mining, technology, and infrastructure, which would be pivotal in achieving shared goals related to economic growth and sustainability. He expressed optimism about the future, noting that such partnerships could catalyze significant technological and economic advancements for Telangana.
Accompanying the Deputy Chief Minister on his visit were Ronald Rose, Secretary of Energy for Telangana; N. Balram, CMD of Singareni Collieries; and the Special Secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister. Together, they participated in discussions aimed at fostering stronger industrial ties between Telangana and global stakeholders in the mining industry.
The visit to MINExpo 2024 underscored Telangana’s commitment to positioning itself as a leader in sustainable mining practices, while also attracting global investment and expertise to enhance its mining infrastructure.
