Indian film RRR stole the show at the 95th Academy Awards in Los Angeles, winning the Oscar for Best Original Song with its viral hit “Naatu Naatu.” Composed by MM Keeravaani and written by Chandrabose, the track beat out heavyweights like Lady Gaga and Rihanna. RRR’s director SS Rajamouli and actors Ram Charan and Jr NTR were in attendance to accept the award. This marks the second win for an Indian film at this year’s Oscars, with The Elephant Whisperers winning Best Documentary Short Subject. While All That Breathes was also nominated for Best Documentary Feature Film, the Oscar ultimately went to Navalny. “Naatu Naatu” has already achieved global recognition, winning the Golden Globe for Best Original Song in January. The Oscar ceremony featured a live performance of the song by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, and a dance by Lauren Gottlieb, introduced by presenter Deepika Padukone.
