Rs. 2.30 Crores Worth of Ganja and Drugs Destroyed by Excise Officials in Yadadri

Yadadri, November 6, 2024: In a significant move to combat drug trafficking, excise officials from the Ghatkesar Excise Police Station destroyed a large haul of ganja and other illegal substances, worth an estimated Rs. 2.30 crores. The drugs, seized in connection with 43 different cases, were incinerated at the Home Industries Managing B Yochemical Company located in Tinpapur village, Bhuvanagiri district.

This operation marks a major step in the state’s ongoing efforts to curb the illegal drug trade. The excise department, under the supervision of Rangareddy Deputy Commissioner P. Dasharath, took the decision to dispose of the confiscated contraband after following all necessary legal protocols. Deputy Commissioner Dasharath granted permission for the destruction of the seized items, ensuring that the process was conducted in a safe and controlled environment.

Among the substances destroyed were 848 kg of ganja, which accounted for the bulk of the haul. Additionally, the officials incinerated 3 LSD blots, 50 MDMA pills, 900 grams of alprazolam (a banned pharmaceutical drug), 600 grams of chloral hydrate (a sedative), and 700 grams of hashish oil. These drugs were all linked to cases under the jurisdiction of the Ghatkesar Excise Police Station, which has been actively involved in several raids and arrests over the past months.

The disposal process was carefully monitored by senior officials. Malkajgiri Excise Superintendent K. Naveen Kumar and Ghatkesar Circle Inspector J. Ravi led the operation, with the assistance of their staff, ensuring the successful and secure destruction of the substances. The location for incineration was selected specifically for its safe handling and disposal facilities to prevent any environmental harm.

The estimated street value of the destroyed drugs stands at Rs. 2.30 crores, a considerable financial blow to the illicit drug networks operating in the region. The officials emphasized that this action not only removes harmful substances from circulation but also sends a strong message to drug traffickers and those involved in the narcotics trade.

Excise Enforcement Director VB Kamalasan Reddy praised the excise officers for their swift action in disposing of the seized drugs. In his statement, Director Reddy commended the officials for their efficiency and diligence, highlighting the importance of quickly removing confiscated drugs from excise stations to prevent any potential misuse or theft.

“The prompt disposal of these drugs is a critical part of our enforcement strategy. It ensures that these harmful substances are permanently removed from the streets and helps us maintain a safer society,” said Director Reddy.

This destruction is part of a larger, statewide initiative aimed at cracking down on the production, distribution, and consumption of narcotics. The excise department has been intensifying its efforts, conducting more frequent raids and making significant arrests in recent months. The department has reiterated its commitment to fighting the drug menace and ensuring the safety and well-being of the state’s residents.

By systematically addressing the issue of drug trafficking, Telangana’s excise department is working to create a drug-free environment and protect future generations from the dangers of addiction.
