IPL 2025 Mega Auction to Feature 574 Players in Jeddah

The stage is set for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) Mega Auction, scheduled to take place over two days, November 24 and 25, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A total of 1,574 cricketers initially registered, and 574 players have been shortlisted for the highly anticipated event.
Player Pool Breakdown
Out of the 574 shortlisted players, the pool includes:
- 366 Indian players
- 48 capped players
- 318 uncapped players
- 208 overseas players
- 193 capped players
- 12 uncapped players
- 3 players from associate nations
Reserve Prices
The base price categories for the players are as follows:
- INR 2 Crore (81 players): Includes marquee names such as Jos Buttler, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Mitchell Starc, and Kagiso Rabada.
- INR 1.5 Crore (27 players): Includes prominent players like Yuzvendra Chahal and David Miller.
- INR 30 Lakh (320 players): Predominantly uncapped players.

- Marquee Sets: The auction will begin with two marquee player sets.
- Set 1: Jos Buttler, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Kagiso Rabada, Mitchell Starc, and Arshdeep Singh.
- Set 2: Yuzvendra Chahal, KL Rahul, Liam Livingstone, David Miller, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj.
- Available Slots: A total of 204 slots are open, including 70 for overseas players.
Franchise Retentions
Franchises have retained 46 players ahead of the auction, investing INR 558.5 crore collectively:
- Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals lead with six retentions each.
- Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, and Sunrisers Hyderabad retained five players each.
- Delhi Capitals retained four players, Royal Challengers Bangalore three, and Punjab Kings two players.
This year’s auction promises intense bidding wars, especially for marquee players like Rishabh Pant, who was released by Delhi Capitals, Shreyas Iyer, let go by Kolkata Knight Riders, and KL Rahul, released by Lucknow Super Giants.
With the Mega Auction moving to Jeddah for the first time, the event is expected to set new benchmarks in the IPL’s history.
