Havy crop damage

Farmers in six districts of Telangana suffered huge losses due to heavy rains and untimely hailstorms. Officials estimate that crops have been damaged in 650 villages across 50 mandals in just one day. Vikarabad district alone has been hit the hardest, with most crop damage occurring in this region.

The Shankarpalli mandal under Rajendranagar of Rangareddy district received the highest rainfall of 4.5 cm in Proddutur, with heavy rains also falling in Mylar Devulapalli and Shivarampalli in the same district. In Mominpet and Marpalli mandals of Vikarabad district, farmers are expressing their grief over large-scale crop losses. Crops were completely destroyed by untimely rains during harvest time.

Several other districts, including Sangareddy, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, and Mulugu District Govinda Rao Peta mandal, also experienced heavy hailstorms. Green chillies were heavily affected by the hail, with entire crops falling to the ground. Maize and sorghum crops were severely damaged in many districts.

Vegetable farmers in the suburban districts of Hyderabad suffered huge losses due to the untimely hailstorm that hit Marpalli mandal center in Vikarabad district at 1 pm. Tomato, cauliflower, and cabbage crops were heavily damaged, and papaya and watermelon plantations were completely destroyed. This has been a devastating blow for the farmers who had put in a lot of hard work to cultivate their crops.
