“Uphold Constitutional Values and Ethos,” Urges DRAT Kolkata Chairperson Justice Anil Kumar Srivastava

Hyderabad: Justice Anil Kumar Srivastava, Chairperson of the Debt Recovery Appellate Tribunal (DRAT), Kolkata, called upon citizens to uphold the values and ethos enshrined in the Constitution of India. Addressing the Bar and Officers at the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) premises in Hyderabad during the 76th Republic Day celebrations, he paid tribute to the sacrifices of freedom fighters and emphasized the importance of adhering to constitutional principles in daily life.

Justice Srivastava unfurled the national flag at the Hyderabad DRT campus to mark the occasion. Speaking at the event, he reminded the gathering of the responsibility each individual holds in safeguarding the Constitution. He encouraged legal professionals, particularly advocates, to champion constitutional values in their work and contribute to the timely resolution of pending cases.

Highlighting the role of the legal fraternity, Justice Srivastava stated, “The cooperation and dedication of lawyers are essential for ensuring justice is delivered efficiently. Young lawyers should look up to senior advocates as role models and strive to emulate their expertise and commitment.”

The event also witnessed inspiring speeches from DRT-1 Presiding Officer Gummadi Gopichand, DRT-2 Presiding Officer Rameshwar Gangaram Kothe, Bar Association President G.K. Deshpande, and General Secretary D. Raghavulu. They reiterated the importance of collaboration between the Bar and the Bench in strengthening the justice delivery system.

As part of the celebrations, medals were awarded to winners of various sports competitions organized by the DRT Advocates Bar Association, adding a vibrant touch to the event. In a gesture of appreciation, several senior advocates were felicitated by Justice Srivastava, along with the presiding officers of DRT-1 and DRT-2 and the Bar Association office bearers.

A special highlight of the program was the guard of honor parade performed by cadets from the 1 Telangana NCC Naval Unit. Their disciplined and impressive display earned accolades from the attendees.

The event concluded with a renewed call to all stakeholders in the judicial system to uphold the principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity that form the cornerstone of India’s Constitution.
