In a historic performance during the Champions Trophy match against Bangladesh at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Indian pacer Mohammed Shami became the fastest bowler to claim 200 wickets in One Day Internationals (ODIs) in terms of balls bowled. Shami achieved this milestone in just 5,126 deliveries, surpassing the previous record held by Australia’s Mitchell Starc, who reached 200 wickets in 5,240 balls.
Shami’s exceptional five-wicket haul for 53 runs played a pivotal role in India’s commanding six-wicket victory over Bangladesh. This achievement also makes him the fastest Indian to reach the 200-wicket mark in ODIs, achieving the feat in 104 matches.

In the same match, Indian captain Rohit Sharma reached 11,000 ODI runs in 261 innings, becoming the second-fastest player to achieve this milestone, following Virat Kohli, who did so in 222 innings.
Bangladesh, after opting to bat first, posted a total of 228 runs, with Towhid Hridoy scoring a resilient century. In response, India comfortably chased down the target, reaching 229/4 in 46.3 overs, thanks to Shubman Gill’s unbeaten 101 off 129 balls.
This victory marks a strong start for India in the tournament, with both Shami and Gill delivering standout performances.
