Hyderabad, February 25: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy inaugurated BioAsia-2025, reaffirming Hyderabad’s status as a global leader in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology. Addressing dignitaries, industry leaders, and experts from around the world, the Chief Minister outlined the state’s ambitious plans to drive innovation, research, and economic growth.

Hyderabad: A Global Life Sciences Hub

CM Revanth Reddy emphasized that BioAsia has positioned Hyderabad as a key player in the global healthcare sector. “BioAsia is not just shaping the future of healthcare but also attracting top minds and investments from across India and the world,” he said. He noted that several globally renowned pharmaceutical, healthcare, and biotech companies operate from Hyderabad, reinforcing the city’s reputation as the “Life Sciences Capital of the World.”

Investments in Research, Innovation, and Higher Education

Highlighting Telangana’s commitment to research and innovation, the CM stated that the government has consistently invested in higher education, producing a large pool of scientists, technologists, and engineers. The establishment of Genome Valley has been a significant milestone in this journey.

He reiterated the state’s vision to transform Telangana into a trillion-dollar economy over the next decade, with a strong focus on Hyderabad’s core urban services sector and the development of Future City and AI City projects.

Electric Vehicles and Industrial Expansion

Hyderabad has also emerged as the EV capital of India, registering the highest sales of electric vehicles in the country. The state government is set to introduce 3,000 electric buses in the RTC fleet.

Further, CM Reddy announced plans to develop a manufacturing hub between the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the Regional Ring Road (RRR), making it one of the largest manufacturing centers in the world. “We aim to position Telangana as a key player in the China Plus One strategy by attracting global investments,” he added.

Infrastructure and Connectivity Enhancements

The state government is working on an integrated infrastructure strategy, connecting ORR and RRR with radial roads and developing industrial clusters along these corridors. Recognizing Telangana’s landlocked status, CM Reddy announced the development of a mega dry port and improved rail and road connectivity to seaports in Andhra Pradesh, facilitating international trade.

Life Sciences and Pharma Growth

The CM highlighted the remarkable Rs. 40,000 crore investment attracted by Telangana in the life sciences sector last year, spanning over 150 projects. He announced plans to develop Pharma Villages between ORR and RRR, creating over five lakh new jobs.

The Green Pharma City, a key initiative under the Future City project, is progressing rapidly, with major pharmaceutical companies signing MoUs. The German company Milten Biotech has launched cell and gene therapy operations in Genome Valley, and four more multinational companies are joining Telangana’s growing biotech ecosystem.

Telangana’s Leadership in Investment and Job Creation

CM Revanth Reddy underscored Telangana’s dominance in attracting investments, stating that the state leads in foreign direct investment (FDI), job creation, and low inflation. At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Telangana secured Rs. 1.8 lakh crore in investments, which is expected to generate 50,000 new jobs across various sectors.

Recognition and Global Collaboration

The Chief Minister congratulated international dignitaries attending BioAsia-2025 and urged them to leverage Telangana’s thriving ecosystem. He also extended special congratulations to Professor Patrick Tan, who received the prestigious Genome Valley Excellence Award for his contributions to life sciences.

“Hyderabad has firmly established itself as a powerhouse in pharma manufacturing, IT, and digital health over the past 25 years,” CM Reddy remarked. He recalled the success of last year’s AI Healthcare Summit, reaffirming Telangana’s commitment to innovation.

The three-day BioAsia-2025 conference is expected to bring together industry leaders, policymakers, and researchers to explore opportunities in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare, further strengthening Hyderabad’s position as a global innovation hub.
