Hyderabad, March 16, 2025: Telangana is witnessing an intense summer heatwave, with temperatures soaring beyond 42°C in some areas. The highest temperature was recorded in Asifabad, Kumuram Bheem district, at 42.4°C, marking the most extreme heat of the season so far. Meteorologists warn that the heatwave is expected to intensify further in the coming days, with no immediate relief in sight.
22 Districts Cross 40°C, 9 Districts Report 41°C or More
A staggering 22 districts in Telangana recorded temperatures above 40°C, with nine districts exceeding 41°C. Among them, Adilabad, Mancherial, Rajanna Sircilla, Wanaparthy, and Nagarkurnool were among the hottest locations. Hyderabad, the state capital, experienced 39.6°C, signaling an early arrival of extreme summer conditions.

Compared to last year, the temperature deviation is alarming. Several districts have recorded 3 to 5 degrees higher than normal, causing concerns about worsening heatwave conditions. Meteorologists suggest that the state is experiencing May-like temperatures in mid-March, an unusual trend attributed to shifting climate patterns.

Hyderabad & Other Major Cities Also Feel the Heat
In Hyderabad, areas like Asifnagar and Keesara saw temperatures nearing 40°C, making outdoor activities challenging. Several other major cities, including Karimnagar, Warangal, and Nizamabad, also reported severe heatwave conditions, with residents struggling to cope with the rising mercury.
Officials from the Telangana State Development and Planning Society (TSDPS) have issued heatwave warnings, advising citizens to take necessary precautions.
Forecast: Temperatures to Rise Further, No Relief Expected
According to weather experts, the current heatwave is expected to intensify further in the coming week. The clear skies and strong sunlight will continue to push temperatures higher, possibly crossing 43°C in some regions.
With no significant rainfall or cloud cover predicted in the immediate future, Telangana residents must brace for even hotter days ahead. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and may issue additional heatwave alerts if the temperature rise continues.
Precautions & Advisory for Public
Residents are strongly advised to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses:
- Avoid outdoor activities between 12 PM – 4 PM, when the heat is most intense.
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and fluids like buttermilk, lemon water, and coconut water.
- Wear light, loose-fitting clothing and use hats, sunglasses, and umbrellas while going outside.
- Keep homes cool by using curtains, fans, and proper ventilation.
