Hyundai Motor reported a 2% drop in its monthly sales for March compared to the previous year, primarily due to a decline in overseas markets. The company sold 365,812 vehicles last month, down from 373,290 units in the same period last year.
Domestic sales showed a slight increase, rising 0.9% to 63,090 units, while overseas sales fell by 2.6% to 302,722 units. In the domestic market, the bestselling model was the Avante, which sold 6,829 units, followed by the Grandeur sedan with 6,211 units sold. The Sante Fe was the top-selling sport utility vehicle (SUV) in Korea, with 5,591 units sold.
A Hyundai Motor official stated, “We will strengthen our sales and production systems tailored to local demand and policies to respond flexibly to regional market changes.”
Kia’s Sales Grow by 2.2% in March
Kia reported a 2.2% increase in sales for March compared to the same month last year, driven by demand growth both domestically and internationally. Kia sold 278,058 vehicles in March, up from 272,011 units in the same month in 2024.
Domestic sales increased by 2% to 50,006 units, while overseas sales rose by 2.2% to 227,724 units. The best-selling model for Kia in overseas markets was the Sportage SUV, which sold 42,579 units, followed by the Sorento and the K3, with 20,439 units and 18,200 units sold, respectively. Domestically, the Sorento was the most popular model, with 10,155 units sold.
Kia also announced its highest-ever first-quarter sales, with a total of 772,351 vehicles sold from January to March, marking a 1.6% increase over the same period last year.
A Kia official said, “Hybrid models of key models, such as the EV3, Sportage, and Sorento, which were launched in the second half of last year, drove strong sales and helped us achieve the highest-ever first-quarter performance.”
