Kakinada, April 9 — In a distressing turn of events, more than 30 students in Andhra Pradesh reportedly missed their Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains on Tuesday due to traffic congestion allegedly caused by the convoy of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. The students, en route to one of the country’s most important engineering entrance exams, were caught in a severe traffic jam and failed to reach their examination centers on time.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage across the state, with students, parents, and citizens expressing anger over what many are calling a glaring example of administrative negligence and poor planning. Given the high stakes of the JEE Mains — which can shape a student’s entire academic and professional future — the affected aspirants are devastated.

Social media platforms erupted with criticism, with users slamming the political establishment for disrupting a critical examination. Hashtags demanding justice for the students trended through the day, and many called for an official apology, compensation, or an opportunity for a re-examination.

Amid growing backlash, the Visakhapatnam City Police issued a statement seeking to clarify the timeline. According to their report, the Deputy CM’s convoy passed the concerned traffic junction at 8:41 AM, while the official reporting time for the exam was 7:00 AM, and entry gates closed at 8:30 AM. Officials argued that the timing of the convoy bore no direct responsibility for the students’ absence. They also noted that the absentee count for the day was reportedly lower than on previous days of the ongoing JEE Mains session — a point being interpreted as an attempt to downplay the incident.

Nevertheless, the public sentiment remains critical, with many insisting that political movements should be better coordinated to avoid disrupting essential civic processes — especially ones as vital as national-level examinations.
