
Lightning Strikes Claim Four Lives Across Telangana
IMD Issues Warning for Next 4 Days
Hyderabad, May 21,2025: In a tragic turn of events, four individuals lost their lives due to lightning strikes during thunderstorms across various districts of Telangana.
According to official sources, the victims have been identified as Bhikshamma (46), a woman farmer from Appajipet in Nalgonda district; Cheralu (55), a shepherd from Othay in Mahabubabad district; Praveen Kumar (27) from Gudenga; and Korava Nagaraju (18), a youngster from Miyapur in Wanaparthy district. All four succumbed to lightning strikes during heavy rainfall in their respective areas.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning stating that thunderstorm activity accompanied by lightning is likely to persist for the next four days across several parts of the state. Authorities have urged the public—particularly farmers and those working in open areas—to remain cautious and avoid exposure during stormy weather.
Disaster Management officials are coordinating with local administrations to monitor the situation and ensure timely alerts are issued to vulnerable communities.
