
PJTAU Celebrates 55th Annual Convocation: Focus on Gender and Social Inclusiveness in Research
Hyderabad, August 2, 2025:
Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) marked a significant milestone by hosting its 55th Annual Convocation on Saturday, celebrating the academic accomplishments of its students and reiterating its commitment to inclusive and innovation-driven agricultural research.

The event was presided over by Sri Jishnu Dev Varma, Hon’ble Governor of Telangana and Chancellor of PJTSAU. Dr. Mangi Lal Jat, Secretary, DARE & Director General of ICAR, New Delhi, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered the Convocation Address.
In his address, Dr. Jat praised the university’s pivotal role in advancing agricultural education and promoting sustainable farming practices. He underscored the importance of embracing gender and social inclusiveness in research, along with a multi- and transdisciplinary approach. He also emphasized the critical role of ICT technologies, big data analytics, and the development of a second gene bank to support future breeding programs. Dr. Jat further stressed the relevance of strengthening local food systems to ensure public health and environmental sustainability.

Prof. Aldas Janaiah, Vice Chancellor of PJTSAU, presented the University’s Progress Report for the period from November 1, 2021, to October 31, 2022, highlighting advancements in academics, research, and outreach. “As the world confronts pressing challenges like climate change and food insecurity, our graduates must emerge as leaders equipped with ethical values and research-based solutions,” he noted.

A total of 844 degrees were conferred during the ceremony, including 619 undergraduate, 116 postgraduate, and 37 doctoral degrees. In recognition of academic excellence, 20 meritorious students were awarded 30 gold medals, along with cash prizes and citations.

Ms. G. Bhargavi, from the College of Agricultural Engineering, Kandi, Sangareddy, emerged as the top performer, winning six gold medals. Ms. Arshiya Tabassum followed with four gold medals.

The convocation was attended by University Board Members, Officers, former Vice Chancellors, Directors from ICAR, faculty, students, and their families, making it a grand and memorable academic celebration.
