Electricity Safety is Top Priority During Ganesh Immersion: CMD Musharraf Faruqui, IAS

Hyderabad, August 30: The Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TSSPDCL) has made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth and safe power supply during the Ganesh idol immersion program scheduled for September 6 in Greater Hyderabad, Chairman and Managing Director Musharraf Faruqui, IAS, announced on Saturday.

Addressing a teleconference with Zonal Chief Engineers and Superintending Engineers, the CMD emphasized that electrical safety is of utmost priority during the immersion festivities. Officials reported that thorough inspections were carried out at major pandals, streets, and immersion routes. Works such as restringing of loose conductors, providing earthing to transformers, applying proper insulation, and installing PVC pipes and plastic sheets at iron poles and fuse boxes have been completed.

To ensure uninterrupted power supply and immediate response to emergencies, 68 special control rooms have been set up across the city. In addition, 104 extra distribution transformers have been installed to handle the increased load. A total of 101 Quick Response Teams (QRTs) at sub-division level, comprising staff from Operations, Lines, and CBD departments, will remain on duty round-the-clock until the immersion concludes.

Special arrangements have also been made zone-wise:

  • Medchal Zone: 31 control rooms and 43 additional distribution transformers for 71 immersion sites.
  • Rangareddy Zone: 25 control rooms and 22 additional distribution transformers for 29 immersion sites.
  • Metro Zone: 12 control rooms and 39 additional distribution transformers for 10 immersion sites.

The CMD directed officials to re-inspect routes of large idol processions, stay vigilant, and prioritize safety at every stage. Directors and Chief Engineers have been nominated as in-charges to monitor arrangements and coordinate with other departments during the program.

The teleconference was attended by Company Directors Shivaji, Dr. Narsimhulu, Chakrapani, Krishna Reddy, Medchal Zone Chief Engineer Kamesh, Rangareddy Zone Chief Engineer Pandya, Metro Zone Chief Engineer Prabhakar, and other senior officials.
