7th All India Prison Duty Meet – 2025 Concludes with Grand Success in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, September 13, 2025 – The 7th All India Prison Duty Meet – 2025, hosted in Hyderabad, concluded on a high note with outstanding participation and remarkable achievements. The three-day event, organised by the Telangana Prisons and Correctional Services Department, brought together 1,222 prison officers and staff from 21 States and 3 Union Territories, who showcased their skills and talent in a wide range of sports, cultural, professional, and fine arts competitions.

For the first time in the history of the meet, a Technology Expo and a Prison Products Exhibition were organised, highlighting innovative reforms, digital tools for prison management, and products made by inmates across the country. The exhibitions attracted significant attention, symbolising the evolving role of prisons from correctional institutions to centres of rehabilitation and innovation.

In the medal tally, Telangana emerged as the overall champion, securing a record 28 medals, including 21 gold, followed by Tamil Nadu with 17 medals and Maharashtra with 16 medals. In total, 133 medals were awarded across various categories of competition, reflecting the high level of skill and commitment among the participants.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Soumya Mishra, IPS, Director General of Prisons & Correctional Services, Telangana, expressed pride in the successful hosting of the meet and highlighted the state’s progressive initiatives.

“It is a matter of great pride that the 7th All India Prison Duty Meet – 2025 was successfully hosted in Hyderabad. This platform has not only celebrated the talent of prison staff across the country but also showcased our vision for prison reforms. Telangana is taking forward major initiatives including the establishment of a National Prison Academy in Hyderabad, introduction of AI-based surveillance, creation of new de-addiction centres, and the upcoming High-Security Prison at Warangal,” she said.

The event concluded with a vibrant valedictory ceremony, celebrating the spirit of discipline, teamwork, and innovation that the meet stood for. The Telangana Prisons Department received wide appreciation from participating states for its seamless organisation and forward-looking reform agenda.
